Glen Mia is a household name in the Bega Valley and throughout much of South-Eastern New South Wales. Glen Mia Supplies was founded in the seventies by Carmel Rixon,  a daughter of the Scanes family, renowned for its horse racing achievements. She operated the saddlery from a garage on the family’s, Glen Mia Estate for many years before selling to Kevin and Jenny Hinton. They continued to supply horse-related products and services until August 2017 when Glen Mia Supplies was purchased by Sharon and Andrew Donnelly.

Sharon’s vision for the renamed Glen Mia Saddlery is clear and far-reaching.

Since she took over the saddlery, Sharon has transformed it into a vibrant, community-focused centre with horses and their people at its heart. She is passionate about supporting the region’s young riders in particular.

Unlike so many “profit-firsts”, Glen Mia Saddlery is committed to sustainably promoting and extending the pure joy of owning and riding horses, and supplying a growing inventory of top-rate goods and services that make the unique bond between a horse and its partner so strong and wonderful.

Sharon Donnelly was raised on a dairy farm at Candelo. Both her father and grandfathers were passionate horsemen. She has owned and ridden horses her whole life. Her current horse partner is Aragon. They enjoy competing at local dressage and adult riding clubs.

Angela Kane is employed by Glen Mia Saddlery and brings some important skillsets to the business. “Ange” has owned and bred horses most of her life with a particular interest in Welsh Cobs. She has been very successful in various horse disciplines, notably Harness Driving.

Ange’s consistent love for “all things horse” has led her to the specialised field of Saddle Fitting — the science of examining a horse and its human rider from a biomechanical perspective and formulating an ideal symbiosis. She is ardent about helping kids understand how their horses function and the best way for them to work with their horses. Ange is the proprietor of AOK Equine Services.

Together with the support of her talented family, Sharon and Ange form a truly unique and perfectly natural team at Glen Mia Saddlery.
